Helping People Take the First Steps Toward Stability
Helping individuals take their First Step toward stability by securing vital documents—birth certificates, Social Security cards, and state IDs.
Partnering with community agencies to move people forward.
First Steps is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Why Give?
Your gift helps cover the cost of birth certificates, state IDs, and documentation needed for stability.
Without proper identification, individuals cannot access housing, employment, healthcare, or benefits.
Our Impact

Since launching First Steps, we’ve walked alongside 535 individuals as they work to obtain the identification needed for stability and hope.
We continue to partner with local agencies to help remove documentation barriers and move people forward.

How First Steps Works
1. Intake & Assessment
We meet individuals where they are and determine what documentation is missing.
2. Documentation Assistance
We help obtain birth certificates, Social Security cards, and state IDs.
3. Forward Movement
With proper identification secured, individuals can access housing, employment, healthcare, and benefits.
Every day, we sit with people who are ready to take their first step forward — toward ID, stability, housing, and hope.
First Steps exists to walk alongside our friends, helping them navigate paperwork, access vital documents, and begin rebuilding their lives with dignity and support.
